Founded in 1960 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, The Planning Forum is the
current affairs society of St. Stephen's college. Our activities
revolve entirely
around the idea that education needs to extend far beyond the
classroom and that students need to be capable of having an
independent opinion on matters
that concern society today. Inviting prominent guests to speak at the
college is one of our primary activities; past guests have included
former Prime
Ministers, diplomats, economists, social activists, sports persons and
so on. Sessions are usually extremely interactive with the speakers
often giving
only a short introduction and the question and answer session taking
up most of the time. Some of our other activities include the
publishing of a template
for worded expression called The Forum (an exclusive current affairs
magazine), and the organization of excursions to areas of political
and cultural significance. From 2008 We are also involved in organising Model united nation convension in our college.
